Complete Dentures
Complete Dentures and What to Expect
At Alberta Denture Centre, we provide complete dentures for patients missing all teeth in one or both arches. These removable prosthetics restore your ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. We begin with a full oral assessment, address any concerns, and then take detailed impressions to create a secure and comfortable fit. The number of appointments will vary based on your needs.
Dentures can be made from acrylic, porcelain, or composite materials, with acrylic often recommended for its comfort and durability. Standard dentures rest directly on your gums and are removed at night, while implant-supported dentures are anchored to implants for added stability and jawbone support.
Digital Dentures
Digital technology has transformed the way dentures are designed and fitted. Using advanced CAD/CAM methods, digital dentures begin with a precise digital impression of your mouth. This eliminates the shrinkage and inaccuracies of traditional molds and ensures your denture is made to exact measurements.
The result is a comfortable, natural-looking denture with improved fit and reduced sore spots. Digital records are securely stored, making it easier to reproduce or adjust your denture if needed in the future, while also reducing turnaround time compared to traditional techniques.
Difference Between SEMCD and Lower Suction Dentures
We know dental terminology can sometimes feel overwhelming, so let us simplify it for you. A Suction Effective Mandibular Complete Denture (SEMCD) is simply another name for a lower suction denture and there is no difference between the two. At Alberta Denture Centre, our lower suction denture process begins with a free consultation to determine if this treatment is right for you. From there, we take an impression of your lower arch and create a measuring device designed specifically for your mouth. We also measure the distance between your upper and lower jaws, assess how your lower jaw moves side to side and front to back, and carefully study models of your mouth to achieve the best possible stability. Finally, we test your new dentures to ensure they fit securely and comfortably.
Choosing Between Standard and Precision Dentures
Standard dentures are a cost effective choice, offering reliable function with basic shapes and shades. They may need occasional adjustments but can last for years with proper care.
Precision dentures are crafted using advanced measurements of your jaw and bite, offering better alignment, comfort, and aesthetics. They are ideal for patients seeking a natural look and long term satisfaction.
Whether you want a straightforward solution or advanced customization, our team will help you choose the right denture type based on your goals and budget.
